Certified:
- Must be licensed as a peace officer by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE)
Knowledge of:
- The ideal candidate must possess comprehensive knowledge of relevant laws, ordinances, policies, and procedures related to the assignment. They should have the skill and ability to safely operate all equipment used by the Department pertinent to the assignment. Additionally, they must demonstrate the ability to think clearly and act effectively in emergencies, analyzing and synthesizing information to make informed decisions. The candidate should be adept at handling a variety of information sources daily and have a keen eye for observing and remembering details of incidents, names, and faces. Effective verbal and written skills are essential, along with the ability to prepare correspondence and reports proficiently.

This position starts at an hourly rate of $23.58
*Additional pay based on TCOLE Certification Level and Degree
Patrols and provides enforcement, detection and crime prevention duties in the protection, safety and welfare of faculty, staff, students, visitors, and all property within the area under the control and jurisdiction of Alamo Colleges District.
This role reports to the Patrol Captain.
Education:
- Graduation from high school or equivalent (GED)
Other Requirements:
- Must possess and maintain a valid Texas driver license.
- Must be insurable through the organization’s insurers.
- Licensed as a peace officer by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) or have successfully completed the TCOLE reactivation examination two or more years ago.
Environmental Conditions:
Field environment; exposure to inclement weather; gun range; exposure to loud noises.
Physical Conditions:
Requires maintaining physical condition necessary for walking, running, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, crawling or sitting for prolonged periods of time; and lifting and carrying. Standing and riding trains for long periods of time.
- Required to work 16 hours a week throughout the FTO Program (30 weeks).
- Once FTO is completed minimum requirements are work 16 hours a month or up to 19 hours a week.
